View of Venus Transit in NJ

Nj.com lets Hudson County residents know where they can get full view of Venus transit in rare sighting.  The once in a lifetime event that occurs once a century Tuesday afternoon as a small black dot will pass by the sun in what has been dubbed “the Transit of Venus.”

To commemorate this rare occasion, the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission at the William D. McDowell Observatory, will be holding a viewing with professionals to explain the importance of the transit and to observe the movement. The viewing starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Observatory, located at 3 DeKorte Park Plaza, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071.

Experts believe the next time this will happen will be in 2117, about 100 years after Tuesday’s event.
