Driving on the Moon

Nasa’s photo gallery features Apollo 15 lunar module pilot Jim Irwin loading the lunar rover with tools and equipment in preparation for the first lunar spacewalk at the Hadley-Apennine landing site. Apollo 15 launched 40 years ago on July 26, 1971, from Launch Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center.

Final Flight of Shuttle Atlantis has a photo gallery of Shuttle Atlantis’s final flight. The flight took off on July 8th from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and marks end of the 30 year program from NASA. The shuttle is carrying four astronauts on a 12-day delivery mission to the International Space Station.

Photos of Space Shuttle Endeavour has photos from Kennedy Space Center’s launch pad 39 A, where space shuttle Endeavour was launched on May 16th for its final mission. Endeavour and her six man crew will deliver the $2 Billion Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer – a particle physics detector searching for dark matter, dark energy and antimatter – to the International Space Station during a 16 day mission that will include 4 spacewalks. After the conclusion of its final mission, Endeavour will be decommissioned and will go the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air and Space Museum for display.

A Video Tour of the International Space Station has posted an HD Video Tour of the International Space Station. Construction of the International Space Station began in 1998 and should be completed by 2011. The space station is currently the largest artificial satellite orbiting the Earth. Space shuttle Endeavour lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center on February 8th, carrying a a third connecting module for the space station. This latest mission will mark the 32nd shuttle flight to the International Space Station.
