Bass Museum Breaks with Tradition to Showcase Art in an Entirely New Way

The Bass Museum of Art, located at 2100 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, has freshened up their approach to displaying their collections in an attempt to show visitors what art is all about. The exhibition entitled “An Invitation to LOOK/Selections from the Permanent Collection of the Bass Museum of Art” is going on now through July 3rd and features more than forty works from the museum’s permanent collection with styles varying in technique and spanning over the course of 300 years.

The traditional approach of showcasing artwork according to art historical or art theoretical systems has been completely abandoned in an effort to engage not only art junkies but art novices as well. Alongside each of the selections of art, key elements have been blown up into 8-foot-tall digital prints highlighting details and allowing one to really LOOK at the painting, hence the exhibition’s title. Their innovative way of capturing note-worthy features in each of the paintings gives one a crash course in art history that you actually want to stay awake for. If you’re in the area, head down and check it out. You most certainly won’t be disappointed!
