National Park Week

National Park Week is on April 16 to 24; to celebrate, the U.S. National Park Service will offer free admission to its 394 park sites. This year’s focus, Healthy Parks, Healthy People, highlights the connection between human and environmental health and the vital role America’s national parks play in both. The featured events are:

Park Day at the Stones River National Battlefield, Tennessee on April 16

NatureFest 2011! at the Congaree National Park, North Carolina on April 16

Scranton Limited short train excursions at the Steamtown National Historic Site, Pennsylvania starting on April 17

John Muir’s birthday at the Muir Woods National Monument, California on April 21

Explore, Learn, Protect at the Shenandoah National Park, Virginia on April 23
