The NYC Subway Reborn as a Cello

Gawker.com’s The Subway Reborn as an Awesome Cello highlights the work of Brooklyn resident Alexander Chen who built a melodic webpage that represents New York subway lines as ever-growing strings that are “plucked” by intersecting trains. Using the MTA’s actual subway schedule, the piece begins in realtime by spawning trains which departed in the last minute, then continues accelerating through a 24 hour loop.
