Completing the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial

Washingtonpost.com’s article Completing the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial shows the progress of the 30-foot-8-inch statue of King. The sculpture is based on a famous 1966 photograph of King is the centerpiece of the memorial and is named the “Stone of Hope,” for a line from King’s speech: “With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope.” The statue is scheduled to be dedicated on Aug. 28th.
