The Mapparium at the Mary Baker Eddy Library

Timeout.com has an excellent article on The Mapparium at the Mary Baker Eddy Library in Boston. The Mapparium is the world’s largest walk-in globe; it is a three-storey model of the globe built to scale. The perfect sphere runs 30 feet in diameter, traversed by way of the glass bridge that bisects its interior. Built in 1935, the Mapparium features 608 stained-glass panels recreate the planet as it was in the mid 1930s. 80 years later, while the geography has grown antiquated, it remains among Boston’s quirkiest landmarks.
