NY/NJ Will Host Super Bowl XLVIII In 2014

On May 25th, the NFL announced the New Meadowlands Stadium, the $1.6 billion stadium, co-owned by the New York Giants and Jets, as the host of the 2014 Super Bowl. New York/New Jersey was awarded Super Bowl XLVIII after the NFL reviewed bids from Tampa and South Florida, both traditional sites. It will be the first open-air stadium in a cold-weather region to host a Super Bowl. According to bid documents reported by ESPN, the average temperature range for the Meadowlands area during February is 24 to 40 degrees, with several inches of rain. There are three possible dates for the game in 2014 — Feb. 2, 9, 16.
