Time-Lapse Video Of The Giants-To-Jets Change At The New Meadowlands

Totalprosports.com has a time lapse video of the maintenance crew changing the field at the New Meadowlands Stadium from a Giants themed field to a Jets themed field. New Meadowlands Stadium is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and is home to the New York Giants and New York Jets of the National Football League. The stadium opened on April 10, 2010 with construction costs of approximately $1.6 billion,making it the most expensive sports stadium ever built.

NY/NJ Will Host Super Bowl XLVIII In 2014

On May 25th, the NFL announced the New Meadowlands Stadium, the $1.6 billion stadium, co-owned by the New York Giants and Jets, as the host of the 2014 Super Bowl. New York/New Jersey was awarded Super Bowl XLVIII after the NFL reviewed bids from Tampa and South Florida, both traditional sites. It will be the first open-air stadium in a cold-weather region to host a Super Bowl. According to bid documents reported by ESPN, the average temperature range for the Meadowlands area during February is 24 to 40 degrees, with several inches of rain. There are three possible dates for the game in 2014 — Feb. 2, 9, 16.

First LEED Certified NFL Stadium Ever Coming to LA

Inhabitat.com is reporting that the First LEED Certified NFL Stadium Ever is Coming to LA. The stadium, designed to be a multi-purpose venue will be built into the existing topography which will reduce the amount of steel needed for structural support by 40%. It will also feature large swaths of area will be green space and help infiltrate storm water. Designed by global architecture firm, Aedas, this stadium should be one of the most environmentally progressive stadium in the U.S.

The Who set to perform Super Bowl XLIV halftime show

The NFL announced The Who as the halftime act for Super Bowl XLIV. The announcement was made during halftime of the Oakland Raiders-Dallas Cowboys game this Thanksgiving.  The impressive list of previous halftime acts include bands such as Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney.

Super Bowl XLIV will be played at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida on Sunday, February 7, 2010. Last year’s event drew more than 151 million viewers and was broadcasted to 230 countries.
