Gizmodo.com has a list of The 10 Most Awesome Pools In the World. Three of the ten are located in the United States. They are:

Joule Hotel, Dallas – Formerly the Dallas National Bank Building, the Joule Hotel features a pool protruding out of one of its balconies.

232 West 15th Street, New York – Inside a historic townhouse on the border between Chelsea and the Meatpacking District sits a 18 feet pool that is 8 feet deep.

Aquarium Pool at the Golden Nugget, Las Vegas – Swimmers can swim side by side with fish and sharks at the Golden Nugget. A 50-by-30-foot aquarium is stocked with fish, sharks, and stingrays in the middle of its pool. It even has a waterslide tube that runs through it.

Nine Surprisingly Gassy Cities

Nationalgeographic.com’s Nine Surprisingly Gassy Cities highlights nine cities around the world that emit a high level of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane which contribute to global warming. Domestic cities that made this list were Denver, Washington D.C., Minneapolis, Menlo Park (CA), Austin, and Dallas. The most common reason these cities made the list is their use of coal burning power plants to create electricity.

The 10 Best Cities for Electric Cars

Thedailygreen.com takes a look at the places where electric cars could have the biggest impact. The article, based on a blog post form General Electric, uses data from the Census Bureau and study the commuting habits of people in the 25 biggest metropolitan areas to determine the 10 best cities for electric cars. It also factors in the percentage of commuters who drive to work and live within 50 miles of the job, and how the region is set up to handle the needs of car commuters.

The 10 cities where electric cars could have the biggest impact are:

Dallas has 2.7 million commuters who live within 50 miles of the city center with 91.5 percent of commuters currently drive to work.

Houston has 2.4 million commuters within 50 miles of downtown, 90 percent of whom drive to work.

Detroit -  92.5 percent of its 1.6 million commuters drive to work. Although Detroit has a inconvenient monorail system, which makes a very circumscribed loop around the core downtown.

St. Louis, Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix, Tampa, Cincinnati and Sacramento round out the list.

Revitalizing the Arts in Dallas

For many years, Dallas, Texas has been trying to revitalize the arts district by constructig museums, theaters and an opera house designed by famous architects. The recent opening of the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre and the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House marked the final step of the revitalization process. This process began in 1977 and has been over 30 years in the making. The 1984 opening of the Dallas Museum of Art and the 2003 opeing of the Nasher Sculpture Center were some of the highlights of the revitalization. The Texas State Fair takes over Dallas now through October 18. The fair will feature entertainment performances, dozens of livestock and farm exhibits, several vendor booths, and plenty of famous fair foods. Many musical acts are scheduled to take the stage, including Edwin McCain, En Vogue, Lantana, the Commodores, Miranda Lambert, among several others. Visitors can also stop by the State Fair Wine Garden to sip on some delectable wine, listen to live jazz, and snack on fine cheeses.  Also attracting visitors to the fair this year is a taping of The Oprah Winfrey show on October 12. So if you’re going to be in Texas this October, the State Fair in Dallas looks like the place to be.
