How does one measure the attractiveness of a city for young people? Job availability? Cheap rent? a good bar scene? Vocativ just released a pretty exhaustive list to determine exactly that using twenty separate factors including average rent, salary, unemployment rate, cost of living, coffee shops and bars per capita, cost of beer and cigarettes, and cheap take-out restaurants per capita. All of these factors were measured for the 50 most populated cities in America and a list was aggregated. The top ten are below:

3. San Francisco, CA
4. Seattle, WA
5. Minneapolis, MN
6. Las Vegas, NV
7. Atlanta, GA
8. Long Beach, CA
9. Denver, CO
10. Phoenix, AZ

Mintlife.com has published an interactive map of The Best Cities for Working Mothers. The map is based on Forbes’ rankings over multiple areas and includes safety, education, and health care as part of the criteria. The map includes 11 overlays, some of the included overlays are highest income, lowest unemployment rate, lowest cost of living, lowest cost for health care and best pediatricians.

Men’s Health has released their list of The Best and Worst Cities for Men 2010. The list features 100 cities and was based on 35 criterias such as air quality, employment, life expectancy, death rate and commute times. The top city of the 2010 list is Seattle, WA which was ranked as one of the most literate and educated cities in America. Madison, WI and San Jose, CA round out the top three cities. The worst city on the list was Birmingham, AL.
