On Tuesday, December 29th, Katie Visco of Glen Ellyn, Illinois finished her 3,132.5 mile run across the United States. Her run started on March 29th, 2009, spanned across 15 states and took her from Boston to San Diego. After going through 9 pairs of running shoes and fighting off nagging injuries, she finally reached the finish line and ran barefoot into the Pacific Ocean to celebrate the event. She raised $11,000 to support Girls on the Run, an organization devoted to promoting the health and overall well-being of young girls.
